ACE and MO award nominee (2018) born in Nicaragua, Alejandra (Alex) left the civil-war torn country and made Australia her home with her family from the age of 2. Her family arrived in Australia with no English and no money and it was through this hardship that Alex learned to value the worth of education and hard work to achieve your goals and dreams. Boasting a long career in music, Alex has been performing since the age of 2, and is trained in both Classical and Contemporary techniques studying Opera voice under renowned teachers Mrs Robyn Wells (Sydney Con) and Dr. Elizabeth Willis (UNSW).
A regular in the club scene, her one woman Solo Show showcases a variety of styles and genres including Opera, Musical Theatre and classic Pop hits from ABBA to Whitney Houston. Alex was the support act for the Mark Vincent Regional Tour (2017) and she is also currently the Lead Singer of HYJINX, a rock/pop covers band, performing regularly throughout Sydney.
Previously Alex was the head-liner act for the Captain Cook Viva Cruise Latin Nights in 2010 and then founded and trained the incredible quartet Urban Opera in July 2012. In 2013 she founded and trained ARIA and eventually in 2014 she founded and created
THE NEXUS ALLIANCE and has performed in many festivals, as well as corporate and private events. She played the understudy role of Carlotta in Strathfield Musical Society’s production of “Phantom of the Opera” (October, 2014). In 2015 she played the role of “Babette” in the production of Beauty and the Beast (October 2015). She has worked consistently alongside Bradley Gilchrist in various Opera Projects Productions including, La Traviatta, Madame Butterfly and Suor Angelica. Alex is set to expand her horizons this year and explore a variety of musical genres and facets of the industry.
